INSHORE CHARTERS ~ 6 People

They say that the striped bass All-tackle World Record of  78.5 lbs will be broken in the next five years.  There is a list developed by those in the know, where that trophy bass will be caught.  BLOCK ISLAND is at the very top of that list.  The Rhode Island state record striped bass, a 70 lb. monster, was caught on a cold November night in the mid '80's from a Block Island beach.  If you're interested in getting out on the water, having a good time, and potentially hooking one of those block island monsters, then Amanda Mel Charters is where you need to be.

Inshore charters target Striped Bass, Bluefish, Seabass, Tautog, and Fluke.  We fish for these species different ways, depending on what's productive at the time.  We troll with downriggers, use live and dead bait, cast and jig.  With conventional and spinning gear on board, we are ready to change tactics when the fishing demands it.   We leave from Old Harbor, Block Island. No other place is closer to the Block Island fishing grounds. We are minutes from the open ocean.   This means that more of your time is spent fishing.

OFFSHORE CHARTERS ~ 4 People

Offshore charters target Tuna and Shark.

When the conditions are right Bluefin tuna can be caught within 25 miles of the island, sometimes much closer!  Monster sharks have been caught in the waters south of Block Island.  If you like fishing and have never felt the pull of a big shark,or have never heard a reel sing out as a tuna peels the line off, now's your chance.  If you've been offshore fishing before and need to replace the old memories with some new ones, come fishing with Captain Ned and see what it's all about.  We fish for these offshore fish with heavy tackle, light tackle and fly tackle, pick your poison!
